Bot-free meeting recording for macOS
The meeting stays between the people in it.
Noter captures your microphone and the audio playing on your Mac as separate channels. No Noter participant joins Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams; you get a live transcript with a reliable “you” and “them” boundary.

“Make the event visible at every onboarding step.”
Nothing new appears in the call’s participant list.
Separate physical channels establish which side spoke.
Each finalized line is persisted immediately.
Meet, Zoom, and Teams starts and stops are recognized.
How Noter records
Speaker attribution starts before the transcript.
Most transcription systems receive one mixed audio stream and infer speakers afterward. Noter’s direct-capture path keeps the microphone and system-audio sides separate before transcription.
Microphone and system audio enter separately.
A native audio sidecar captures both channels on the Mac and interleaves them for streaming transcription.
Echo cancellation keeps the channels useful.
WebRTC AEC3 reduces speaker audio feeding back into the microphone when you are not wearing headphones.
A device change does not start a new meeting.
If the capture path restarts, Noter resumes into the same recording and writes finalized transcript lines to disk as they arrive.
Two transcription modes
Choose names or vocabulary when the tradeoff matters.
Direct capture is the default. Recall.ai remains available when platform-supplied remote-speaker names are more useful than custom terms or non-English transcription.
- Direct capture
- Deepgram streaming, custom vocabulary, non-English languages, structural you/them attribution, and optional remote-speaker sublabels.
- Recall.ai
- Opt-in, English-only mode with live named speakers supplied by the meeting platform; no custom vocabulary.
- Fallback
- Direct capture can fall back to Recall.ai when the local audio path is unavailable.
- Quick Note
- Record a phone call, in-person conversation, hallway conversation, or voice memo without a calendar meeting.
Visible control
Recording starts when you choose it.
Automatic detection offers a one-click start; it does not silently begin recording. A floating indicator stays visible, and you can pause, resume, or stop from the live transcript view.
Consent remains your responsibility
No-bot capture does not remove recording laws, workplace policies, or the need to notify participants where required.
Overlays can stay out of screen sharing
Noter’s recording and note overlays can be excluded when you present your screen.
Audio is processed for transcription
Meeting audio is sent to the selected transcription provider. See the privacy draft for the full data path and current subprocessors.
Record the conversation, not another attendee.
